The Top 10 Gay Pride Events in 2016
Wonderful Maspalomas Gay Pride

Every one of the top 10 Gay Pride Events in 2016 is an auspicious and delightful party. Gay Pride is celebrated every year in or around June all over the world. Floats careen down city thoroughfares, beautiful and festive to behold. Dancers, drag queens and amplified music, as well as marching groups, put on a marvelous party, and it is an uplifting sight for all LGBTs and their allies.

The LGBT Pride celebrations' history began in the early morning of Saturday June 28, 1969. In New York City, the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar frequented by LGBT patrons, was raided by police. This set off a spark that caused riots and protests, the pivotal time that began the modern LGBT rights movement. The first Gay Pride march was held on Sunday June 28, 1970 to mark the date of the Stonewall uprising. It was a reminder of the struggle for LGBT fundamental human rights.

What began as a serious, inspiring and fun march became an annual world-wide festive celebration of the LGBT communities. Aspects of the parades usually have a dedication to the memory of the victims of AIDS and anti-LGBT violence.

Sometimes called Pride Festivals now, the carnival-like atmospheres near the parade routes showcase uplifting music, specially designed floats and often include beer stands, drag shows, barbecues, information booths, circuit parties, contests, and sports and games. The celebrations today are full of festivity, gay pride and freedom!
