Maspalomas Gay Pride kicks off

Maspalomas Gay Pride thirteenth edition just started on Gran Canaria island and will not end before next Sunday. For a week, the most gay friendly island of the Canary Islands, off the African coast, will welcome tens of thousands of gay tourists from all over Europe, ready to proudly celebrate love and difference on Maspalomas beaches and dunes and in the Yumbo Center gay venues which will host events, galas and hot parties every day and night!

This year's Gay Pride theme is "Intercontinentality", to break down the barriers between peoples. Maspalomas therefore will receive people of all sexualities, all backgrounds and all countries in this great celebration of diversity. A hundred thousand people are expected at this very special week for the island, since tourism is a key driver of its economy.
The Yumbo Center shopping center, where all Maspalomas gay venues are gathered, will be the epicenter of all the festivities. A giant podium provides entertainment at the end of day with parades, concerts, drag queen contests etc. Another hot spot of this gay pride will be the Axelbeach Maspalomas, which offers a special pride program with a series of pool parties (the whole program is to be found on Maspalomas Gay Pride official website).

The grand finale, the spectacular gay pride parade, will take place this Saturday from 15:30. Last year, the parade was attended by about 50,000 people. After the parade, go to the Yumbo Center to enjoy an international show which will be headlined by German singer Cascada, but also a British boys band, Kingsland Road, who recently posed naked for Gay Times magazine (see below).
