About the Place Initially in English, this text was translated via a machine translation service and may contain inaccuracies or errors.
Enjoy spectacular views of Table Mountain from the apartment. Recently renovated with, tasteful modern furniture. The apartment, located on the seventh floor is fully equipped with all ameneties you would need for a comfortable stay.Popular attractions nearby include the V&A Waterfront, Green Point Urban Park & beautiful Cape Beaches.
Guests will have exclusive use of the apartment during their stay
De Waterkant is, in truth, a modernised rendition of the Bo-Kaap and lies just next to this same suburb. This is a trendy area that has maintained, and even accentuated, the colourful, bright semi-detached houses - restoring them into fashionable cottages that, together with the cobbled, tree-lined streets and spectacular views, bring to mind New York’s Greenwich Village and London’s Soho. The De Waterkant Village - now as many as 80 properties within walking distance of restaurants, the Cape Quarter shopping centre and local entertainment - is regarded as a resort-type experience, although this does the charming, character-full village an injustice. The bright, 18th century cottages are given over to guest houses offering authentic ‘local’ living and nestling on the lower slopes of Signal Hill overlooking Table Bay.
The Village of De Waterkant is essentially a business area during the day, where people live, work, lunch and shop, but by night it’s alive with energy and offers some of the city’s best restaurants, wine bars and delis.
A walk along Wale Street towards the Bo-Kaap (‘above town’), brings you to a neighbourhood that is said to hold the highest number of buildings dating back to before the year 1840, in South Africa, that miraculously managed to survive apartheid and the fate of other similar areas, like district six.
From De Waterkant you can walk to the city centre; the V&A Waterfront and the Table Mountain cableway are a quick drive away; and the fashionable Atlantic beaches and trendy Atlantic Seaboard suburbs are close at hand to explore.
I recommend making use of Uber for day to day travel.
If you would like to do sight seeing, I suggest the Red Tourist Bus.
If you would like to travel using your own car, we do have a secure parking bay available for you to use.
This is a self catering unit, but we do provide the basics (tea, coffee, milk, sugar). We have hotel quality linens (300 Thread Count). Stays of 8 nights or longer will receive complimentary mid-stay changeovers. One secure allocated parking bay.
Please note: COVID 19 Update
We provide hygienic linen which is cleaned industrially.
Our housekeeping staff use gloves and face masks to mitigate the spread of any germs/virus.
We experience intermittent load shedding (power cuts) in all areas around South Africa and this unfortunately is out of our control, however it is not constant and is announced over social media and Eskom Se Push App which is very handy to download to have on hand in order to plan.
Housekeeping in the unit is done on a weekly basis for stays of 8 days or more.
ID will be required ahead of check-in to ensure a smooth check-in process
