Just because you’re on vacation in gay Madrid doesn’t mean your workout regimen has to fall by the wayside. Here are some of the more popular gay gyms Madrid residents go to, where you can squeeze in a quick workout after snapping up a day pass. Oh, and not forgeting our pick of the best gay-friendly swimming pools in the Spanish capital, too.
Madrid’s gay gyms
Located in Malasaña, Gymage Lounge Resort is a popular Madrid gym for the gay community. With over 1,400 square meters of workout space, this gay-friendly gym has stacks of cardio stations, free weights, and many classes to choose from. The highlight is the rooftop area and pool, perfect for a post-pump chillout.
A big hit with the local gay crowd, Opera Gym is a Madrid gym that's fantastic for visitors as it offers a variety of passes: one, three or ten days. Its central location is a bonus, and aside from the usual cardio machines and free weights, Opera Gym also has daily classes, including pilates and boxing.
Gay swimming pools in Madrid
If you fancy making a splash, to the west of Madrid lies the Piscina Municipal El Lago swimming pool. Open during the summer months only, bypass the families below and head straight to the upper level where the gay guys congregate on the grassy banks. This is a very popular spot during Madrid Gay Pride, so arrive early in order to claim a spot alongside the pool.
Another spot to join the hunks in their trunks is at the Piscina Universidad Complutense. But it’s not just the uni students that enjoy this pool and stretch of grass; guests are welcome too, and it’s a gay favorite. However, if it’s busy, you may have to chat up a student to let you in with their guest pass. The best bit? No children allowed. Bliss!
