With the very notion of pride generating in New York during the Stonewall Riots of 1969, it comes as no surprise that many cities of the United States approach their pride demonstrations with considerable commitment and sincerity. Large cities like New York, San Francisco, and Chicago offer extended prides, featuring parades, conferences, and festivals, while smaller cities such as Boston and Seattle also participate, normally during the official pride month of June. While the majority of gay prides take place over this period, a host of other USA prides occur earlier and later in the year, including Fort Lauderdale Gay Pride in February, and several others in October such as Las Vegas Pride and Palm Springs Pride.
