About Tacoma Pride
Tacoma Pride Festival is a vibrant annual event that celebrates and honors the LGBTQ+ community in the South Puget Sound region in the Pacific Northwest.
Hosted by the Rainbow Center, the festival takes place on the second Saturday of July, with a variety of events happening throughout the month, reflecting the City of Tacoma's official proclamation of July as Tacoma Pride Month, with the Pride flag flying atop the Tacoma Dome!
As the largest Pride celebration in Tacoma, Washington, it seeks to provide a diverse and inclusive representation of the community, supporting local entertainers, artists, businesses, and organizations.
The Pride Festival of today started from humble beginnings in July 1997 with a community picnic in Wright Park, gathering several hundred participants that grew to be a festival and outgrew the park itself. That growth led to the relocation to Broadway and Theatre on the Square, which also has since outgrown along Pacific Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets.
The festival has grown from a one-day celebration to an entire month of activities, highlighting the creativity and value of the LGBTQ+ community. The festival includes an awards ceremony, a film festival, and many other activities that draw upwards of 15,000 people.
