About the Place

Quirky modern décor, streaming light, views of table mountain. A warm and inviting space with views spanning the entire city bowl. Live as a local here. Harbour View apartments are ideal for someone wanting to experience a slice of the Capetonian lifestyle. The property has a roof terrace with pool and barbeque area.

Some things you should bear in mind before coming.

The Apartment
The flat is at Harbour View Apartment Building at 17 Bromwell street (it's a block of 100 units), which is 3.7km (8mins) from the middle of long street, Cape Town central. It is a private one bedroom apartment with an ensuite off the bedroom. It is a corner 3rd floor unit, so every room has stunning views of the city. Lounge has 180 degree views of the entire Devils Peak, Table Mountain, Lions head & Signal hill. I love sitting there and soaking up the little bits of movement in the distance, like trees moving and cars moving about, like little spots of colour. The sun pours in in the afternoon, which is great for sundowners and stunning colourful sunsets.

24 Hour Check In

Rooftop Pool & Barbeque.
There is a salt water pool, pool deck with tables under shade and a barbeque area. Blue & White striped beach towels provided are for use here (Not the white towels please.) Firewood can be arranged in advance if you give me a heads up, or from the nearby petrol Total Garage.

Parking
There is a parking space, no 22., in a ground floor garage, accessed via one of the many garage doors on Strand Street. It is the only Garage door on the whole building that does not have apartments above it. It is the garage door that is exactly in the middle of the smaller three storey B-Block and the big 6 storey A-Block that make up Harbour Views two adjacent brown buildings. The parking it is a very small one though! You need to please use the smallest car you can rent, and even then, if you are not a small framed person, you might need to climb out the boot! So I would recommend a hatchback! Sorry about this, I had no idea it was so small when I bought the apartment. Was such a pity, anyway, that is why I make the price as low as I can, so that people who are prepared to rough it a bit can save some ********.

Wind
Woodstock is windy, I've put seals on the doors so that the wind can't tunnel through the place. That said, I like the fresh air, and this apartment is a corner unit, so it has views from all the rooms :) Their are wood blinds to draw if you need more privacy.

Safety
As you may know Woodstock is a place of contrasts... The Test Kitchen, arguably SA's top restaurant is one block away, within the Biscuit Mill precinct, however, think Jozi Maboneng..or downtown Brooklyn NYC - now, don't walk around after dark or in the wee hours of the morning, unless you want to get a fright.. Odd types love the area. So I would recommend you rather stick to Uber/Bolt to get around, that way you keep yourself out of troubles way. The area has an industrial charm and the architectural streetscape lends itself to untold stories and non-white-picket-fenced-preconceived-ideas. Near the railway line is the notorious train bridge community of drug peddlers. They have a small informal settlement – welcome to Africa! I’m proud of the fact that this community can exist right next to the built community. They do attract all sorts of lost souls, and so one really can’t predict who is lurking nearby at any given point. More than universal precautions have to apply! I wouldn't walk anywhere in Woodstock after dark. Afraid there is simply too much of a contrast between the haves and have nots for people to feel that equality is anything other than an idealized thought process. Africa has a harsh sun and a harsh reality. But delivers the punches in thrills and pizazz - all the more because of it. It is when we are least expecting it that we have the most profound experiences. The building is safe, we have 24 hour security. Saturday mornings is totally fine, the street feels like a camps bay mountain road in that every conceivable spot is parked with fancy cars from the posh side of town. (We're not the posh side of town, we're the edgy, hip, cool, gentrifying side of the city bowl). So walk around on Saturday morning, no problem. It's a place to be seen! Wear your sexiest shirt and sunglasses!

Welcome
If you choose to come to my place you'd be most welcome. Whatever time you arrive there is self check in. Unfortunately I might not be around to show you the neighbourhood so that you can get your bearings. But ******** maps and the free unlimited 2 megabit-per-second wifi (constant fibre connection) is your friend. There are some hidden gems, such as The New Modernist, who recently moved in a few buildings down the road - Bespoke designer furniture with a retro touch. Look up events near you on ******** to find out what’s happening nearby, check out WhatsoninCapeTown, Webtickets & Computicket to see what theatre, and live performance events are coming up. There are also many cinemas to choose from such as the Waterfront, Labia, canal Walk & Cavendish Square. I really hope you have a great time.

Thank you again for maybe booking, I am so looking forward to sharing this lovely space with travellers. I have had so much fun putting it together, it gives me joy to share my love of space-making with others. I've always loved making spaces since I was a kid playing in my double story wendy house! :) I'm an indoorsy type so it's really where I am in my element.

Cheers for now,
James
