Descrizione dell'alloggio Questo testo, inizialmente in inglese, è stato tradotto tramite un servizio di traduzione automatica e può contenere imprecisioni o errori.
This exquisitely designed and owner-built 3-bedroom home (which conveniently does not experience load shedding!) stands just on the outskirts of McGregor, looking across the town towards Robertson and the folds of the Dassieshoek Mountain Range. Nicknamed 'Sugargum House', after the impressive post-and-beam design hand-built by the owner, the triple-volume ceilings and gorgeous framework are the home's key aesthetic feature.
A completely private home, this property flows from one space to the next, comfortably providing spacious living areas in which to lounge and enjoy the quiet of this special town. As accommodating on hot summer days, with the patio built around the centrally located swimming pool, or cooler winter evenings warmed by the central fireplace. Perfectly located to enjoy any one of the little town's hidden secrets (more on that shortly) as well as the area's extensive outdoor hikes, rides, runs and adventures. Responding to the breadth of sporting options and kiddies entertainment needs, the property sports a great TV setup with DSTV (cable / satellite) viewing with a full bouquet.
The property has a balanced and symmetrical feeling, facing a North-Easterly direction and with bedrooms on the northern-most wing, creating well-managed warmth throughout the day. The ********nstairs bedrooms (one king-sized bed in the 2nd bedroom, and two singles in the 3rd), share an ensuite bathroom and have walk-through access to each other. The master bedroom upstairs (one queen-sized bed), above the 2nd bedroom, has a wonderful view across the gently down-sloping town and surrounds, with mountains in the distance. The en-suite bathroom includes a bath with step access, a shower, and is more than roomy enough.
Day-to-day activities revolve around the centre of the home, with dining room and living spaces centrally located and easily accessed from any part of the interior. The pedestrian entrance, closed off to create an intimate pond area within the home, flows through to the dining area and out onto the patio, where the swimming pool (with adequate cover for little children, if needed) divides the patio space. With covered and uncovered sections of the patio, this space is geared for all conditions, and makes an exceptional braai (BBQ) spot!
The southern wing houses the main lounge area, complete with Samsung Smart Projector and entertainment system for night-time viewing (no day-time TV, the area is too bright for the projector and there are too many activities anyhow!).
Closer to the entrance site the kitchen, which is superbly equipped and will cater to all of your culinary needs. The kitchen's central island is large and has more than enough room for kitchen preparation, and quickly becomes the centre of attention during these times, with four bar stools providing seating.
The scullery in the southern-most corner of the home, closest to the regular entrance, holds the dishwasher, washing machine, and various cleaning items for your convenience.
Out front, the garden is lush and green year-round, with a lawn suitable for the best of garden-cricket games! The beds are packed full of waterwise plants, which thrive in the open, and veggie patches that can easily add to your salads - feel free to pick!
You'll simply need to arrange through us to meet Dennis, the house manager, and take it from there! He is friendly and efficient, and will be able to expertly guide you around the house. he will provide you with two sets of keys, so your party can come and go as they please.
McGregor is located approximately 150 km east of Cape Town and 20 km from Robertson and lies at the foot of the Riviersonderend Mountains. Weather and traffic permitting, it should take you about two hours from Cape ******** off at the N1 at Worcester, take the R60 to Robertson – and McGregor lies 20 km south, a mere 10-minute drive away.
Free from commercial influence, this village harmoniously melds past and present, embodying an authentic rural ambiance. Here, chain stores and fast-food outlets are notably absent. Instead, you'll find charming bespoke shops, cozy delis, and countryside restaurants dotting the streets. The enduring South African café tradition remains vibrant, offering a diverse range of goods, from everyday essentials to seasonal delights. Life unfolds at a relaxed pace, guided by the timeless rhythm of church bells and the familiar crowing of neighborhood roosters.
There are plenty year-round reasons to be in the area, including spiritual retreats, a multitude of wedding venues in and around the McGregor-Robertson area, and year-round events and festivals.
Hiking trails crisscross the rugged terrain, leading intrepid explorers through pristine fynbos and indigenous forests. From leisurely strolls to challenging treks, there's a trail suited for every skill level, each offering panoramic views that capture the essence of the Cape's beauty.
Cycling enthusiasts can pedal along picturesque routes, winding through vineyards and past historic homesteads. Whether on a leisurely ride or an adrenaline-pumping mountain biking excursion, cyclists will find themselves immersed in the tranquil countryside, with the occasional stop at local cafes and wineries for refreshment.
For those drawn to the water, kayaking or canoeing along the serene Breede River provides a peaceful escape. Drift lazily downstream, taking in the sights and sounds of the surrounding flora and fauna, or paddle with purpose, exploring hidden coves and secluded spots along the riverbank.
As the sun sets, the skies above McGregor come alive with a dazzling display of stars, offering stargazers a chance to marvel at the wonders of the universe. Whether camping under the open sky or joining a guided stargazing tour, visitors will be captivated by the celestial spectacle overhead.
You'll need your own transport, so bringing a car is the best way to get around! Roads are in good condition, so any car will happily make the trip!
Some of the activities in and around McGregor require booking, so reach out to the relevant parties ahead of time to ensure you don't miss out!
