MAISON ALETEIA is a charming Hôtel Particulier that tells the story of the former Episcopal capital of ALET LES BAINS. Built around 1750, during the reign of French King Louis XV, the house was used until 1792 by the 35th Bishop of Alet, Charles de la Cropte de Chanterac. This House has always been a House of Love, Peace and Culture, nestled in the ancient ramparts of the medieval town of Alet les Bains.
Your host Richard, a great historian and master storyteller, has carefully selected beautiful furnishings to highlight the history of this spacious Maison, including a magnificent four-poster bed from the reign of Louis XIII (1620). The Maison houses 5 double bedrooms, 3 of which are beautifully appointed family rooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, and all equipped with the modern amenities one would expect today.
The large lounge and library overlooking the garden are spaces where you can relax or simply engage in mindful contemplation. The house offers an atmosphere of discovery where you can immerse yourself in the history of this very special region (Triangle d'Or du Razès) for an overnight stay or a longer stay at your convenience.
The walled garden offers you a space of nature and a chance to smell the roses and hear the bees, surrounded by mountains, in the immediate vicinity of the 4000-year-old Mineral and Thermal Springs and its old pool, accessible on foot. WELCOME TO ALET LES BAINS...

In the Haute Vallée de l'Aude, your path follows the winding course of the river that gives the department its name. A region of gorges and vertiginous gorges, its landscapes range from wine-growing hillsides to Pyrenean peaks. Beyond the town of Limoux, in the heart of an idyllic valley, nestles the former administrative and episcopal capital of the Razès: ALET LES BAINS.
A place of spiritual influence for 10 centuries, the old town continues to surprise with the riches it has to offer the curious, the learned and the initiated... in search of treasures, culture and well-being. Our region is brimming with flavors, especially with the exceptional wines and labels of vineyard and discovery present in the town of LIMOUX, especially with its blanquette. Limoux's clay soils produce wines of unique quality. Sparkling wine, created in the 7th century by Benedictine monks in the Abbey of St Hilaire, has survived the centuries to delight our taste buds. With 7,000 hectares of vines in the heart of an unspoilt natural basin, and with the majority of winegrowers having adopted integrated or organic farming methods, our region is an essential wine tourism destination for wine lovers. With its many and varied events, it's a festive region combining gastronomy and the art of living. All the villages offer events to promote our local products and know-how. With its many historical and cultural sites, the Pays Cathare and its 76 villages of character, the region is an open door between past and present. It is also the scene of myths and legends, firmly rooted in the local imagination, which regularly inspire artists from all horizons! Châteaux et Abbayes open the doors of the Pays Cathare network of sites, in the heart of lands marked by this tumultuous history, and invite you on a fabulous journey through time and History, with a capital H. In the 12th century, a Christian religion other than Catholicism developed in the south of France: Catharism. It has left its mark on this territory and its identity.
The region is steeped in mystery and legend. Just listen to the tales that have been passed down from generation to generation, perpetuated by storytellers and elders at long wakes.
