Have the Top Floor apartment all to yourself in this turn of the century home. Enjoy a walk along the Susquehanna River just a block away. A few more blocks down the road are some of Harrisburg’s greatest spots including Little Amps Coffee (won best espresso in the country at the national coffee competition), Alvaro’s Italian Bakery and the governors mansion. From the Top Floor you’ll catch some beautiful sunsets looking out towards the river. We hope you enjoy our cozy home! This is a nonsmoking apartment.
This is truly a handmade home. When we first bought our home the top floor had been vacant and run down. With a shoestring budget and lots of love we brought it back to life. Exposed brick walls, concrete countertops, original wood floors from 1910, tons of natural light, quirky furniture... This unique place is far from perfect but theres a lot to love. There is 1,000 square feet of space, a comfy queen size bed in the bedroom and a futon in the living room. We also leave a cot in the hall closet just in case!
Guests will have access to the entire top floor apartment as well as the back balcony.
As mentioned above, we are super close to several great places.
-Across the street from the Governor's Mansion
-One block to the river
-A few doors down to Mother's Subs (amazing cheesesteaks!)
-Three blocks to the best espresso in the US, Little Amps Coffee
-Two blocks to Alvaro's Italian Bakery and Restaurant
-Eight blocks to the Broad Street Market
-A mile to the capital and City Island
-A mile to the Farm Show Complex
-Walking distance to several restaurants, museums, bars, art galleries, parks, music venues, etc.
Harrisburg is a central location for all the tourist attractions in central Pennsylvania. Hershey (20 min away), Gettysburg (40 min), the Appalachian Trail (10 min), Lancaster (40 min) and Carlisle (20 min) are just a short drive from here.
You can walk just about anywhere in our small city but if you want to ride a bike there are stations all along Front Street with bikes for rent which only require your phone to rent. We recommend these options because the slower you go the more beauty you see in this city. From architecture to nature this city has it all. Slow down and enjoy it while you are here! Harrisburg does have public transit but it might be easier just to get an Uber for places further away.
There is ample street parking on our block. Our guests never have to park more than a few houses down. Please keep the noise down after 10pm. There are two other apartments in the building and we ask that you be respectful of the people staying in them.
There is not a TV in the Top Floor but we do have Wifi. Be sure to bring your own entertainment devices or take it as an opportunity to unplug a bit. We got rid of our TV years ago and find it quite refreshing :)
