The space
Our cozy, one-story home features two comfortable bedrooms: a suite with a queen-size bed and its own bathroom, and a second bedroom with two twin beds, plus a spacious, separate bathroom. In the expansive living area, you'll find an extendable dining table, a custom-made (locally crafted!) sofa, and a cozy spot to unwind with a book—or simply watch your partner cook in the fully equipped, semi-open kitchen.
For additional relaxation, there is a separate chill-out and dining area overlooking the beautiful garden and the surrounding nature, offering the perfect setting for quiet moments. The large outdoor space features a heated pool and a dining area ideal for enjoying meals or stargazing under the clear Alentejo skies.
We've carefully blended modern comforts with traditional charm to ensure a restful stay, including solar-heated water and everything you need for a peaceful retreat.
Guest access
We open our entire home to you, including the cozy indoor spaces and the peaceful garden. Feel free to relax by the heated pool, enjoy meals in the outdoor dining area, or explore the surrounding village. The house and its amenities are yours to enjoy, making it the perfect base to unwind and experience the Alentejo.

Please note that our home is located in a peaceful, rural village, so a car is recommended to explore nearby gems like Alqueva Lake and Monsaraz. Our house combines the charm of tradition with modern comforts, including solar-heated water and energy-efficient appliances. While our garden is not yet wheelchair accessible, we're working towards making it more inclusive for everyone.
We’re pet-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry companions! Just a gentle request to take care of our cherished, some century-old decor and furniture. To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible, we provide luxurious 100% percale cotton bed linen (made in Portugal!) and equally soft, luxurious towels. We also include biodegradable shower gel, hand soap, and shampoo, all EU-made, for your convenience and peace of mind. 🌿

It's very rural, so as you can imagine, queer venues won't be super visible. However, portuguese people are very laid back and really are not too busy thinking about other people's sexuality. You'll be surrounded by mostly elderly living in the villages. We're a gay couple who's bought the house there, area where my father was born and people are really more than fine with our gayness and the fact we refer to each other as "marido" (=husband in portuguese). What you'll notice mostly is people's kindness and gentle ways of living and going about their days.

Quiet Hours
Alentejo’s charm lies in its peace and quiet. Kindly keep noise to a minimum between 10 PM and 8 AM, particularly in the outdoor areas.
Outdoor Areas
Feel free to enjoy the pool and terrace. If you use the pool, please ensure it is covered when not in use to retain its warmth. Pool towels are separate from indoor towels.
Appliance Use
Modern conveniences like our dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer are at your disposal. Please follow the provided instructions for their use.
Energy Awareness
Help us keep Casa do Jardim Secreto sustainable by turning off air conditioning, heating, and lights when not in use.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited indoors. You’re welcome to smoke in designated outdoor areas and use the provided ashtrays.
Pets
We’re proud to be super pet-friendly! To protect our handmade custom couch made from local wool and century-old decor, we kindly ask guests to ensure pets avoid direct contact with the furniture. Please bring your own pet bedding or protective covers if needed.
