Gay Los Angeles county contains a 75-mile long coastline stretching from Malibu to Long Beach, as well as the stunning beaches of nearby Orange County. Locals surf, kayak, skimboard, and sail the Pacific from a variety of beaches and marinas.
Will Rogers Beach
Just off the Pacific Coast Highway, Will Rogers Beach is the unofficial gay beach of Los Angeles. The beach offers expansive sand, convenient parking and volleyball courts. Note that the gay section of the beach is located near life guard station 18, on the southern end of the main beach, near the volleyball courts.
West Street Beach
Laguna’s West Street Beach is an hour and a half from Los Angeles but is well worth the trip if you’re looking for the region’s best gay beach. South of Laguna, take the PCH until you hit West Street. Down a steep set of stairs lies aquamarine water and prime suntanning real estate. The most busiest times to visit are Memorial Day weekend, Labor Day weekend, and 4th of July, when Orange County and Los Angeles LGBTs host a beach celebration.
Other options
Well-known and also very popular, Muscle Beach in Venice isn't a designated gay beach but has incredible people-watching potential as bodybuilders and other toned athletes show off in this open-air, outdoor gym.
