Asbury Park is a small seaside town in New Jersey, offering a pictureque coastline and plenty of great spots to drop towel. Thanks to the growing number of LGBTQ+ shops, bars, and clubbing scene, Asbury Park has become quite a popular LGBTQ+ destination in its own right.
While there is no official gay beach in Asbury Park, the section between 4th and 5th Avenues tends to draw an LGBTQ+ crowd. If you are looking for a clothing-optional beach in New Jersey, however, Gunnison Beach is your best bet.
You can easily reach Asbury Park from NYC by car or by train. If you are traveling by car, it usually takes around 75 minutes, but it will take longer during the summer months when there is considerably more traffic. If you are traveling by train, you can take the NJ Transit North Jersey Coast Line from Penn Station in Manhattan to Bay Head, and get off at Asbury Park.
We would like to thank misterb&b member, Richard, for sharing this great gay beach suggestion with us.
