Barcelona's sparkling Mediterranean coastline is a welcome invitation to lounge, sunbathe, and make a splash (in the sea and with the locals!). Here's our guide to the best gay beaches in Barcelona.
Mar Bella
The clothing-optional and very gay Mar Bella is internationally known and popular with locals and visitors. This gay beach is often packed with hot beach bodies on weekends and during the Circuit Festival.
Less touristy, this is the busiest gay beach in Barcelona, and in summer, its shores are packed with Speedo-clad cuties (and those entirely in the buff).
Mar Bella is located at the northern end of Barcelona's coastline. The nearby Rambla del Poblenou is a bustling street lined with plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafés for when all that splashing about makes you hungry.
BeGay: the chiringuito at Mar Bella beach
Nearly as famous as Mar Bella itself is its chiringuito, or beach bar, called BeGay. When you need a respite from the sun and sand, head on over and indulge in an ice-cold drink or snack. You can also rent umbrellas and sun loungers from here. The sexy waiters make for an added beach time bonus!
Playa de Sant Sebastiá and Barceloneta
The beaches of Playa de Sant Sebastiá and Barceloneta form a long strand of sand that stretches from the trendy W Hotel to the Olympic Marina.
These mixed and gay beach Barcelona locations usually have more diversity than some of the other beaches within the city. Like Mar Bella, clothing is optional. Known for its busy nightlife, Barceloneta is packed with bars and restaurants.
