Situated equidistantly at 40 kilometers from Montpellier and 50 kilometers from Nîmes, Espiguette Beach is a renowned gay hotspot in the South of France. Nestled within one of the Mediterranean coast's most stunning landscapes, this area is a symphony of contrasts: where azure skies meet earthy dunes, pine forests brush against lagoons, and vineyards stretch towards the horizon. The beach offers expansive sandy stretches, secluded by dunes and groves for privacy. In the summertime, the beach becomes a lively hub of gay socializing. However, the popularity of this destination means that peak times often lead to traffic congestion, as most visitors arrive by car.
How to get to Espiguette Beach:
From the last available parking area (which is a paid facility), face the ocean and head left. A 15-minute walk across the sand will take you past a naturist area to the gay section. Remember to carry water with you for hydration. During summer months, LGBT activists frequent this area to engage beachgoers with information on PreP and HIV prevention right amidst the serene backdrop of the pine forest.
