Host Story: Pools & Paradise in Wilton Manors

Meet Angel from Wilton Manors: make-up artist, misterb&b host, and proud member of his local LGBTQ+ community. Through hosting, Angel says he has been able to create his chosen family thanks to the many great LGBTQ+ travelers who have stayed at his dreamy villa over the years. Will you be next? 

Why did you become a host on misterb&b?

I wanted to be able to connect with my community, make new friends, share my beautiful gayborhood in Wilton Manors with people from around the world, and of course make lasting memories. 

What does hosting for the LGBTQ+ community mean to you?

For me, hosting means being able to create a safe space for the community where guests can relax, be themselves, enjoy new experiences, and make new friends that will last a lifetime. 

In your opinion what attracts guests to Wilton Manors?

Wilton Manors is a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and it offers so many amazing LGBTQ+ owned businesses - so there is nothing like supporting your own community. But also the night life is amazing and there are so many bars, clubs and restaurants to choose from that are ALL QUEER! The beautiful weather and close proximity to the beach also helps. 

What is your best memory of a guest?

I am fortunate to have met so many amazing people, some of whom I now call my chosen family! I have enjoyed so many fun BBQs and pool days that turned into amazing nights around the fire. 

Do you feel more involved with the LGBTQ+ community since you started hosting?

Yes I definitely feel more involved. I get to share my home with beautiful guests, and sometimes I even build an itinerary for them so they can explore and experience everything the very gay-friendly Wilton Manors has to offer! 

Describe your perfect day in Wilton Manors

My perfect day would start with a morning coffee on the deck outside, watching people kayak by. Then I would have a little bike ride down to Wilton Drive and enjoy brunch at Rosies. After, maybe taking a dip in the pool with some friends, then having a little barbecue for dinner followed by a night of dancing and bar hopping at various places on the drive. I would most likely end the evening at The Eagle in Wilton manors!

When is the best time to visit Wilton Manors and why?

The best time to visit Wilton Manors is typically October through April, the weather is absolutely perfect and so enjoyable. Typically, it is very warm during the day but cool at night, and the weather is miserably cold everywhere else in the country. 

How has hosting impacted your life?

misterb&b has given me some extra money to be able to invest in my home so I can make my home extra special for myself, my family, and my guests. Through the platform, I have made some amazing friends, had some of the best nights out in my own neighborhood, and made memories with complete strangers who I now call dear friends.

Why should a guest stay with you?

A guest should stay with me because I like to think I am a kind and generous host. I always want to make sure my guests have an incredible time and make wonderful memories. I am always looking for new friends and new experiences, and I would like for people to feel relaxed at home and always taken care of.
