Raising the Rainbow Flag in Montreal for FIerté

Montreal Pride seventh edition is about to start on August 12. Until August 18, participants will enjoy a full week of activities, performances, lectures, cultural activities and some drag queens competitions. On Sunday, August 18 starts the big parade.

Due to international circumstances, the organizers have added an event on the planning: a peaceful vigil in front of the Russian consulate on August 13 with candles and rainbow flags. They want to show LGBT in Russia that the world is not letting them down and show the Russian government how they feel about this anti-gay legislation

The final Pride Parade will start at 1PM on August 18 and will march through downtown Montreal for nearly three kilometers under this year's slogan "Our flag, our lives RED." Over 130 organizations will march. Participants will enjoy a Mega-T dance and a closing Pride show on Place Émilie-Gamelin.

One of 7th Montreal Pride Grand Marshals is American artist Gilbert Baker, who created the rainbow flag back in 1978 in San Francisco.
