While in Antwerp the World Outgames competitions are in full swing since Sunday, the international gay news has caught up with the 5,000 athletes gathered for this great sporting, festive and militant event. Taking advantage of the media coverage of the event, the LGBT center of Antwerp decided to organize a big kiss in to denounce the recent anti-gay law promulgated by the Russian president Vladimir Putin.
This rally will take place on Friday at 6 pm in front of the Russian consulate in Antwerp. According to the statement released by the organizers of the World Ougames, "we have the opportunity to tell our friends in Russia that we are thinking about them and to show the Russian government what we think about its policies. We will not be intolerant, we will not harass, we will not fight: we will embrace".
The 3rd edition of the World Outgames currently brings together 5,000 athletes from around the world in 32 sports. The last competitions will take place on Sunday (marathon). The end of the World Outgames will correspond with the gay pride of Antwerp, this Saturday and the Wave festival, which will welcome the marchers after the parade. This free festival will feature Boy George and DJs like Andrei Stan and Dimitri d'Anvers. It will also be an opportunity to pass the torch of the World Outgames to the city of Miami, which will host the 4th edition in 2017.
