Let me start this review saying my husband and I have traveled both nationally and internationally, have stayed in numerous short-term rentals, and also have good friends who have created an entire business around this model. Overall, the property itself was cute, quaint, and clean…but let’s dive into the nitty gritty here. Communication: This, by far, was...Let me start this review saying my husband and I have traveled both nationally and internationally, have stayed in numerous short-term rentals, and also have good friends who have created an entire business around this model. Overall, the property itself was cute, quaint, and clean…but let’s dive into the nitty gritty here. Communication: This, by far, was the worst part of our experience. Firstly, I came to misterb&b to book through them (first time), but somehow the actual booking was done through booking.com. Huh? Secondly, this property is managed by Juniper Holiday & Home. So, when I had questions, I was bounced from misterb&b to booking.com then to Juniper Holiday & Home. It also took the property, Juniper, 2 full weeks to respond to an initial question. And every instance after that, it would take me having to send a follow up message to get a response to any inquiry, including the email with the code to get into the home the day of the rental. And one time their response to the delay was “I’m sorry our responses haven’t been reaching you,” instead of taking actual responsibility for the delays. I checked my junk mail and had received no reply from them I had missed. “Pet-friendly”: This is false-advertisement on all sites mentioned, including Juniper Holiday & Home. This property is only DOG-friendly and should be listed as such on all platforms, even if there is a note in the description (there was zero mention of specifics in misterb&b’s description). We had a sick cat who needs daily medication who we wanted to bring with us if possible. I know cats can be finicky, but this needs to be updated on all websites immediately as there are hundreds of other pet’s that aren’t just dogs. It's purposefully misleading. The property: It’s a super charming home, with antique details, location right on the Main Street, and it was very clean. There were some random lightbulbs that were left on the kitchen counter, one bulb out of the packaging which threw off the rest of the neatness and tidiness of the home when we arrived. Living Room Seating: I’m really glad it was just me and my husband (and our dog Mr. Benson) as the couch was the only comfortable piece of furniture in the main living room. One chair was very low and you could literally feel every spring that was in the cushions, another chair was almost ripped through on the bottom, and the final seating option was a tiny wooden one that also had the thinnest of pads on it for comfort. If you had more than 2 people, it would be a very uncomfortable way to enjoy the living room and fireplace. Easy fixes: If you have OCD, you would NOT want to open this silverware drawer. Yikes! Literally just forks, knives, and spoons just tossed in there. A few dollars to buy a simple silverware organizer would make having meals in the gorgeous kitchen easier. Also, though small, some kind of suction cup or small shelf in the 1st floor bathroom would be appreciated to put toiletries on. Again, not a huge price tag to help your guests have an easier experience. Safety: Overall, the locks to get in the front entrance of the home were easy to use once we had the code. The unfortunate thing is where you park in the driveway, there is a side entrance that would have made it much easier to unload the car, but that was a different lock we didn’t have access too. Ultimately more of an inconvenience than a major gripe, but worth mentioning. Lastly, there was no latch to lock the door leading from the kitchen to the garage. This was particularly unsettling at night, leaving us feeling unsafe. The situation became even more concerning when we walked into the garage and noticed an ominous staircase to our left that led to a disheveled basement. Juniper Holiday & Home advertise themselves as full-service luxury vacation rental management. When you claim that on your website, you really need to deliver that and we felt they just didn’t hit the mark, especially regarding timely and effective communication. Read more
