Bienvenue / Welcome to the village of Pointe-aux-Roches / Stoney Point in Lakeshore, Ontario.
Available May thru October, this cozy lakefront cottage-home is fully furnished for your comfort on the southeastern shore of Lake St. Clair, offering beautiful summer sunrises and sunsets. Shallow and warm Lake St. Clair, part of the Great Lakes system, is the connector lake between Lakes Huron and Erie, and has among the largest variety of fresh-water fish and aquatic species in the world.
This one story cottage is 980 sq ft and offers 50' lake-frontage on a 322' deep lot on a dead-end road. With 2 bedrooms, the cottage can comfortably accommodate 4 persons. The second bedroom has an ensuite den/TV room with futon that could sleep an additional 2 children, or 1 or 2 adults for short stays. A self-inflating, comfortable, twin-size air mattress for 1 person is also available. Please note that there is a modest, supplementary charge for a 5th and 6th person; please send us a message if your group is 5 or 6 people to make sure all of you can be accommodated comfortably. There are two or three steps up/down to enter and exit the cottage and two steps down/up to enter and exit the second bedroom/ensuite den.
Full kitchen, dining and sitting room overlooking the lake, private full bathroom and a laundry room. Fully furnished with all necessary appliances, TV, radio, kitchen utensils and cooking equipment, towels and linens, propane and charcoal BBQs, seasonal herb and vegetable gardens, fishing dock, beach and bonfire pit.
You’ll have the cottage all to yourself. Enjoy lake swimming, relax on the deck, dock, beach or the expansive front and back lawns. Rocks, stones and sharp objects including shells and zebra mussels may be on the lake bed, so aqua-socks/water shoes are recommended when enjoying the lake.
Want some exercise? Help yourself to 1 aluminum rowboat and 4 kayaks with life jackets and paddles, lawn games including bocci ball, croquet, bean bag/corn-hole, badminton, washer toss...plus a selection of board games and DVDs if Mother Nature chases you indoors.
Want to bring your boat? As the water level near the shore may fluctuate throughout the season, please message us with your boat size / boat type so we can let you know about docking options at the cottage or at nearby marinas.
As always, Beau Chalet provides ample clean sheets, blankets, pillows, linens, towels etc. But if you prefer to bring your own, just let us know if you want us to leave the beds unmade so you can make them with your own bedding when you arrive.
This is our 6th season and WE STILL DO NOT CHARGE A CLEANING FEE! We are always thrilled to see that our guests enjoy this place as much as we do, and they take care of the cottage as if it were their own.
If you are hoping to reserve for days that are already booked / unavailable, please send a message to us. In the event of a cancellation, we will let you know immediately that your preferred dates are again available to you.
We understand that things can come up that alter you travel plans, sometimes even at the last minute. So if you do need to cancel your reservation after the time limit indicated in our cancellation policy, please let us know right away. We often have a waiting list...and if we are able to re-book your reserved dates with another guest, we're happy to refund any portion of your room rate that ends up being paid by another guest. We don't need to be paid twice, and perhaps you'll come and see us at some other time when you can.

Pointe-aux-Roches / Stoney Point in Lakeshore, Ontario Canada is a unique and unpretentious village of 600 folks; most of us are the direct descendants of the French founding families who settled this area nearly 200 years ago. This rural-farming-lakeside-community is now home to permanent residents and many seasonal cottagers from other parts of Canada and the USA. We are all here to enjoy the splendour of rural lakeside living, but this is not the place for wild parties or excessive noise. QUIET PLEASE - especially at night so we can all have the chance to hear the waves lapping at the shore and the fish jumping in the lake.
We have two cottages; we live in the cottage next door to the one we are offering to you, so we are generally available to assist in making your stay a pleasant and memorable vacation.
Coffee, tea and juice are provided to help you start your day. Bring your own food, snacks and drinks or visit nearby restaurants or grocery stores where you’ll find everything you need to prepare your own meals at your leisure…then dine on the deck while marveling at the view
In the village and only a few minutes away are: a convenience store for basic foods, milk, bread, pop, snacks, beer, wine and liquor, fishing worms; ATMs; a small pharmacy; a Marine supply store for obtaining boating supplies and repair service; a hardware store with fishing and ATV supplies; a pizzeria take-out (closed Mondays) offering pizza, wings and burgers; and a licensed tavern (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) offering fish, chicken and daily specials with indoor or outdoor patio dining or to take-out.
We are about a 10 minute drive to the towns of Tilbury and Belle-River and the village of Comber for groceries, gas, restaurants, marinas with boat launch ramps, golf courses/driving range, drugstores or other necessities along with seasonal roadside farm stands along the way. You can also rent a fishing boat, pontoon boat and jet-skis about 20 minutes from the cottage (search ‘Raw Water Sports Lake St Clair’ for info).
Lake Erie and the delightful towns of Leamington and Kingsville as well as Point Pelee National Park are 25 to 30 minutes away for a wider selection of restaurants, shops, sight-seeing and several wineries and breweries open to the public as well as ferry service to Pelee Island (the southernmost point in Canada).
We are about a 30 minute drive to the city of Chatham and about 45 minutes to Downtown Windsor and the bridge & tunnel to the USA.

If you’re looking for a change of pace, away from the dance bars and city life, then this lakefront cottage may just be what you are looking for. Once you visit this area, you may decide to stay forever. We did! For over 30 years, we’ve been enjoying life here at the lake. We are small town atmosphere, where local culture is appreciated and neighbours watch out for each other. We are a mix of French and English speaking folks, gay, straight, young, old, retirees and young families…all in a place where you can reconnect with your inner calm. But if you’re craving something more, you’re only a short drive away to city conveniences and more vibrant cultural attractions.
QUIET PLEASE - While enjoying your time here, please remember that sound travels far along the water, especially at night: excessive noise such as hollering, yelling, loud music, etc. that disturbs the neighbours is not permitted - they, like you, are here to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Evening bonfires at the beach are enjoyable for everyone, but please note that local ordinances do not allow for bonfires when northerly winds would cause smoke or embers to blow toward homes or lawns. Bonfires must never be left unattended and must always be extinguished (with a bucket of water) when you’re done enjoying them.
No smoking inside the cottage.
Your well-behaved and housebroken fur baby is welcome to join you. But please note that fleas and ticks are not uncommon in this area. While they generally present no difficulty for us bi-peds, pets must be pretreated or able to wear a flea/tick collar while here.
