My husband can help with this better than I can, but there is a strong LGBTQ+ community in the area. Personally, we operate out of Bloomington Il which features the historical Bistro, our longest-standing LGBTQ+ bar. Mama has been running it for 30+ years and is currently being featured in a French documentary on LGBTQ+ rights. My husband worked there as a bartender for a number of years, while I occasionally danced as a go-go dancer. Now my husband organizes and runs the Bloomington Pride event alongside the Bistro. The event is the largest Pride event from Chicago to St. Louis numbering 10k+ in attendance. My husband spends a lot of time meeting with local LGBTQ+ vendors from tattoo artists to vegan restaurant owners. He can help connect you to a member of the community with a shared interest. We mostly operate out of Bloomington but can help connect you with residents in the Peoria/Springfield area.

1.) Your stay covers one meal, so we ask that you don't raid the kitchen. We keep some items on hand for guests who enjoy cooking and can direct you to these items. There is a private fridge in the guest room for storing any grocery items you bring with you. If you are trying to travel light or don't like to cook, we can offer additional meals at an additional charge.
2.) We also enjoy homestead gardening and have egg-laying chickens on the property. We welcome guests to make use of our resources within reason. Gardening is a passion of ours and we are more than happy to point out the edible plants on the property and review the best means of harvesting them.
3.) We are Clothing Optional: That can mean different things to different people. When home alone my husband and I are often comfortable naked. That is not a requirement for our guests, nor a necessity for us. We will follow our guests' lead in terms of comfortability, but always feel free to ask us to put on more clothes if you ever become uncomfortable. Any messes resulting from your nudity are your responsibility to clean up - don't leave stains.
4.) It is important for us to maintain a safe environment for our guests. Foremost in this effort is our rule of uncomfortability. We prefer to function within the comfort zone of all people present unless specifically asked to help push limits. To that end: if you are asked, or ask someone, to do something that makes them, or you, uncomfortable, we expect that to be respected and the behavior stopped. This may seem like common sense to a lot of people, but we feel it's important to say it for our home.
5.) We are okay with our guests having visitors, but please be respectful of time and place. Getting to know each other better on the echoing stairs at 3 in the morning on a Thursday is pushing a boundary and will probably disturb the dog.
