There are a few nice country pubs within a close driving distance including the 13th century Blue Anchor in Aberthaw and the Plough and Harrow in Monknash. The upmarket market town of Cowbridge is some 5 miles away for clothes shopping and antique browsing.
Llantwit Major and Barry are both on the main train line system and a regular bus connects (check out travellinecymru for connections) the two with a stop some 500 yards from the cottage.
