About the Place Initially in English, this text was translated via a machine translation service and may contain inaccuracies or errors.
Take it easy at this tranquil hideaway—a cozy 125-year old Swahili-styled seaside cottage, sat in 3 acres of forest. Catch glimpses of the Indian Ocean and spectacular sunrises to the east. We are a holiday home for a family or friend group; a romantic getaway for couples; and quiet, needed escape from the capitalist grind, to unwind and reset.
The property is Black queer owned and ally managed, and we are more than happy to arrange introductions and tips to help you explore Kenya's impressive Coast.
We sleep up to 8 in 5 beds across 3 spacious bedrooms all en-suite, with high-quality Dr Mattress mattresses and dedicated workstations.
Our large, open living room is perfect for entertaining—indoor plants invite the garden to flow through the home, and, a crisp soundbar, plenty of couches, and 3 large comfy days beds summon guests to relaxation. We have an extra full bathroom for day guests. We also have indoor and outdoor dining spaces. Our furniture is mostly locally made, Swahili inspired and styled.
Our kitchen is fully equipped, including a 5-burner stove, oven, fridge, freezer, generous worktops, a pantry, and a range of crockery, cutlery, glassware and utensils. Expect solar-heated water in all taps and showers, and a range of appliances for your convenience: including a cappuccino machine, washer dryer, dishwasher, and vacuum cleaner.
We also have armed private security and fire response by KK; and kind staff to cook, clean, garden, and manage your stay. And, our internet is a strong and stable 50mbps fibre Wi-Fi.
We are located in a large-scale sisal and livestock farm, Kilifi Plantations, which is safe and scenic to walk, run, and cycle around, and, also, home to The Food Movement (a food and art community and destination); the Express Shop (for groceries, liquor, and hygiene supplies); Beneath the Baobabs (home to a year-long festival calendar and Twisted Fig Restaurant); Kivukoni School (arguably the best international school on Kenya’s Coast); Creek Club (for swimming); and Takaungu Creek (a stunning sandy channel hosting an enchanting show of bi-directional tidal currents moving inland and back to the ocean through the day).
We are located in Kilifi Plantations, 30 mins from Vipingo airport, 60 mins from Malindi airport, and 90 mins from Mombasa airport or SGR. Our co-host, Malcolm, operates a cab service in Kilifi and can arrange your pick up and drop off when coming in and out of town, as well as around town while you’re in Kilifi.
We are a 20 mins walk to Red House Beach within the Plantations estate, a 20 mins drive or boda boda ride to Bofa Beach, or a sunset sail at Old Ferry, as well as the town center for shopping (Naivas, Ol Tip Tip and Charo wa Mae food markets), banking, hospital (Aga Khan and Kilifi District hospitals), and government services. We are no more than half an hour to all of Kilifi’s favorite playgrounds, many of them being LGBTQ+ affirming (Distant Relatives, Generali’s, Kavenya, Kilifi Club, Kusini, the Terrace Bar & Bistro, Tribe Bandas, and Salty’s), and restaurants (Boatyard, Chef’s Word, Den’s Cove, Endoros, Forodhani at Silver Palm, Laza, Mabuhay, Mizizi Bistro, Mtaani Dishes, Nautilus, Nuu’s, and White Star).
In all, we strive to go beyond your expectation of regular short term rentals to be—instead—a home. New to misterbnb, we are keen to impress and improve with feedback, to offer you a memorable stay.
Because we include cooking and cleaning, our rate varies by the number in your reservation. We prefer, encourage, and highly discount long-term stays.
