From Schlechtmühl to Slichtemolen and Hessenburg

The district of Hessenburg in the municipality of Saal was known as Schlichtemühl until 1840. The history of Hessenburg goes back to the 13th century and is first mentioned as Schlechtmühl and Villa Slichtemolen around 1280.

What years later was once a village school with a classroom and cattle barn, is today your beautiful vacation home "Slichtemolen". Grandma Renate and Grandpa Erich lived here for over 40 years, until the sprightly retirement age moved them to the city. We have taken over the house and farm as grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law in the summer of 2021 to continue their great history. We feel the need to preserve this family treasure and piece of home and to keep it in the family. Of course, at some point it is also necessary to turn a house from 1952 completely upside down, to restructure and modernize, which we did until spring 2023. Even if the spatial distribution is now different than before and almost only the exterior and load-bearing walls represent the former framework, we have tried to preserve the charm of the past. Thus, we have partially left ceilings and walls, used the former classroom floor as wall paneling, and misappropriated old wooden floorboards as window sills and storage surfaces. We will always have a shared love and history with the house and are proud to continue this personal asset.

From couples, families to friends, a place to unwind awaits you at our hotel. Whether it's staying and soaking up the sun and relaxing in the garden or hiking, biking or kite surfing in the region. You will certainly not miss out and get your money's worth. From Hamburg or Berlin it is about 2.5 to 3 hours driving time. Hessenburg is located in the middle of the countryside, not far from the Bodden or the city of Ribnitz-Damgarten. Fischland-Darß-Zingst as well as Rostock, Stralsund or Rügen can be reached in a short time and the region of Vorpommern offers a lot of other excursion destinations and activities for young and old.
