Room in a Provençal bastidon

First and foremost: if you're looking for modern comforts, high-tech equipment and aseptic surroundings, you won't find any of that here. This is an eco-location in the heart of a natural site, so you'll find real contact with nature without any noise or light pollution, but you do need to take into account a number of factors.
First of all, the access road is a FORESTRY ROAD (approx. 700m long) that is VERY HARD. If you don't have a 4x4 vehicle, you'll need to be very careful and drive at a very moderate speed (no more than 10km/h). You can also park your vehicle on the left at the entrance to the path (between the trees) and walk along the path (approx. 5 min.).
Once you've arrived, you're in an eco-place with no external energy connections. Water for taps and showers comes from rainwater stored in cisterns and is therefore not drinkable. A carafe of drinking water is available for rinsing teeth in the bathroom, and bottles of spring water are available for consumption on site. The water flow in the shower is not what you're used to in the comfort of your daily life, but the much smaller flow from a solar-powered pump. The toilets, on the other hand, are flushable and require the filling and emptying of (reclaimed) water jugs to evacuate your waste.
In the kitchen, a space is reserved for you in the refrigerator (which has no freezer section) to store any food you may need to keep cool.
Of course, sobriety isn't just about energy: the furniture and interior decor are mainly sourced from recycled or donated items. You'll find everything you need, but nothing superfluous.
You're also in the heart of a natural site governed by an eco-system in which animals, and especially insects, have their rightful place. So you'll occasionally come across butterflies, ants, flies, wasps, bees, mosquitoes, geckos, dragonflies, but also tree frogs, hares, deer, wild boar...
The characteristics of the site (ecolieu and nature refuge), its condition (currently being restored) and its location (in the hills) impose certain rules of good sense. All fires and spark-producing devices are strictly forbidden on the estate, as in all the Haut-Var massifs during the summer season (if you smoke, you can do so in front of the bastidon, where an ashtray will be at your disposal). We also ask you not to climb or step over the (very fragile) retaining walls of the restanques, to be vigilant in your movements (to avoid injury from holes, stones, creepers and branches on the ground...) and to respect the calm and cleanliness of the area.
