About the Place Initially in English, this text was translated via a machine translation service and may contain inaccuracies or errors.
Tony & Chris (and their two mini-daschunds, and bassethound) invite you to come stay in their home and will give you a very warm welcome. This lovely, spacious room is a double, but can be increased to a triple with a comfy portable Z-bed if needed. Brohedyn is a large (and gorgeous!) Victorian villa situated in the village of Adpar, part of the small market-town of Newcastle Emlyn. We have 2 rooms potentially available. Your room is spacious, with high ceilings and large windows. We love the character and charm of our home and we’ve furnished the rooms with period furniture, whilst giving a slightly modern twist on the decoration, but still in keeping with the period of the house. You have a fridge, into which we will put bottled water, and the milk of your choosing. There is tea and coffee making facilities in the room, including a Tassimo coffee pod machine. The smart TV gives you access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4 and My5. The sockets behind the bedside cabinets have ports for charging your phone and there is also a hairdryer in the room. The shower room is decorated in neutral tones and has daylight spots which make it a lovely bright room. There is additional lighting above the mirror. We have chosen a high specification for everything in the shower room, including luxury basin/tap, and state of the art shower cubicle. The shower room is currently shared but by September it will be private use only. There is a large shared guest lounge which has almost the full Sky TV package (except sports), a wide selection of DVDs and books, a cupboard full of games/puzzles and an antique card table. We love interacting with our guests, so if you fancy a natter, we’ll be more than happy to oblige! But, if you’d rather keep yourselves to yourselves then that’s totally fine too. The most important things for us is that you enjoy your stay in our home and you feel comfortable. If you’d like recommendations on places to visit or eat, then we’ll happily give you some pointers :-) Newcastle Emlyn is a delightful historic market town found nestled within the stunningly beautiful Teifi Valley.
The high street has developed into an attractive shopping destination and offers an array of independent shops, art and crafts and antique centres. When a well-earned rest is needed there are award winning restaurants, cafes and pubs to satisfy your needs. There are cuisines to suit every taste and every time of day, and you can enjoy a wide variety of independent traders in the town. The River Teifi, the longest river which is wholly in Wales, flows 75 miles from its source in Tregaron in the Cambrian mountains to it’s estuary at Cardigan. Meandering through lush meadows and rolling hills, tripping over shallow riffles, crashing over falls and dropping into dark pools. The west Welsh coastline has numerous (and gorgeous) sandy beaches. The nearest beach to our home is Tresaith, 20 minutes away and along with Poppit and Mwnt, is a particular favourite of ours. Our nearest larger towns are Cardigan (20 mins) and Carmarthen (30 mins). We are also 25 mins away from the northern edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and 45 mins from the western edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, and 90 mins from the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park. So… whether you’re coming for a single night an extended stay, our wee town is perfectly positioned to be used as a springboard for much of the very best that Wales has to offer!

In terms of places to eat, our wee town has numerous places, all within walking distance - there are two Indian restaurants (one of the chefs in Nahar, was presented with an award by the Queen), the Bunch of Grapes pub does lovely food in the evenings. There’s also the Biarritz at the Emlyn Hotel - more of a fine dining experience but doesn’t cost the earth, and the food is gorgeous! We also have two chippies, a kebab shop and two Chinese takeaways. During the day, there is the Riverside Cafe (all vegan and vegetarian and the food is just amazing!), Harrison’s cafe and tea room with a lovely garden right down by the river and the Travelling Teapot which is a really lovely quaint cafe. Slightly further afield, and for the evening meals you also have the White Hart at Cenarth, the Nags Head at Boncath and the Daffodil at Penrhiwllan. But our favourites further afield are the Waterside Hotel at Poppit Sands, the Ferry Inn at St Dogmaels, the Ship Inn at Tresaith and the Penwig Hotel at New Quay. You have to book at those last ones though. In terms of things to do, our town has the remains of a medieval castle where the last Welsh dragon was slain, according to Legend. If you like beaches, our favourites are Poppit Sands, Mwnt, Tresaith and Penbryn. All beautiful but very different. Poppit is a very large expanse of flat sand at the mouth of the Cardigan estuary. Mwnt is National Trust with incredible views. You can walk from Tresaith to Penbryn over the rocks when the tide is low and you get to see the waterfall that comes off the cliff into the beach! We have also the National Woollen Museum nearby (recently voted one of the best free days out in Wales). There s a honey farm which we love, and is very interesting. Wales, of course, is full of gorgeous little villages, our favourites of which are New Quay and Newport. All of the above are within half hour by car from our home. The top edge of the Pembrokeshire National Coastal Park is 20 mins away and the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park is about 45 mins away. And the towns of Cardigan (20 mins) and Carmarthen (30 mins) are also very nice too, especially Cardigan. There’s also Cenarth, one of our neighbouring villages - beautiful medieval bridge goes over the river Teifi, and there are falls there too, although water levels are lower than normal. There’s a lovely half- mile boardwalk that takes you alongside the river from the falls. Cenarth is only 10 mins away by car.

The main rule is to be kind, courteous, thoughtful and considerate. Obviously we ask that guests be respectful of the fact that this is also our home and to treat it as such. We don’t allow smoking inside the house but you can smoke in the garden. If you wish to use our kitchen occasionally, we’ll do our best to accommodate and make this work. Although we have three lovely, friendly dogs, we prefer not to accept guest’s dogs.
