The Meijehoeve is a traditional, typical Rhineland farmhouse located on a property bordering the river Meije and with direct access to the lakes of the Nieuwkoopse Plassen.
The farm sits on historical ground. Already inhabited in the 13th century by the noble family Van der Mye and has played an important role in the political and military history of the early medieval Dutch history.
Our farm is located in the middle of the typical Dutch polder landscape and directly adjacent to a protected Natura 2000 nature reserve, renowned for its many meadow and water birds. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy themselves here.
We have 3 houses on our property, the main house of which is now available for a shorter or longer stay.
This exceptionally spacious (250 m2 living area) house has been given a luxurious and comfortable interior and offers plenty of space for a relaxing holiday, relaxing in nature or comfortable living and working at home.
The house has an open and bright character; an ideal sun position and several waterfront terraces.
The layout includes (ground floor): a large living room with traditional mantlepiece and wooden floor; luxurious open kitchen with all appliances and plenty of work space;
a traditional "boenhok", furnished as a garden/dining room with an unobstructed view of the water and natural surroundings;
a large formal dining room with beautifully decorated ceiling, traditional “bedstee” and mantlepiece;
the classic "show room" (pronkkamer), now furnished as a comfortable work and relaxation area.
There is also a luxurious shower room on the ground floor and a traditional cheese cellar.
The first floor has a beautiful landing/hall with a high ceiling;
a large sunny bedroom with dressing room;
a second double bedroom and a bedroom for 1 person.
A particularly spacious bathroom with a double walk-in shower, toilet and Jacuzzi bath and a separate spacious laundry/utility room makes everything complete.

The Meijehoeve is uniquely located in the middle of the "Green Heart of Holland" and pares a beautiful rural setting in the typical Dutch “polder” landscape with a very central location. All major cities can be reached by car in 30 to 45 minutes.
The typical Dutch town of Bodegraven is only 5 to 10 minutes by bike or car and offers an extensive range of shops, a train station (on the Leiden/Utrecht line), several excellent restaurants and the now internationally renowned brewery “De Molen”.
The 18th century Fort Wierickerschans, part of the unique “Hollandse Waterlinie” defence works, is a great site to visit.
Also very near (20 car minutes) is the historical town of Gouda, the home of the cheese and of course the famous Stroopwafel. The beautiful Gouda town square with its stunning 16th century townhall and Sint-Jans Church is a site not to be missed.
For history enthusiasts, the town of Leiden (just 20 train minutes away) is a great visit. Leiden, home town of painter Rembrandt van Rijn, once hosted the Pilgrim Fathers before they set sail to the new world and traces of their presence can still be found and explored throughout the city.
