The Yellow Cottage was fully renovated some 15 years ago and two years ago was given a significant refurbishment (including new kitchen). It has many original features, including a large hearth (with wood burning stove) and Liscannor stone flooring.
The Cottage has delightful features and consists of:
- A porch area leading to a lounge, with large hearth and woodburning stove
- A double bedroom off the lounge
- A single bedroom off the corridor between the lounge and the kitchen
- A fully equipped kitchen at the rear of the property. There is an electric cooker.
- Bathroom (with shower) off the kitchen
- The Cottage is double glazed throughout
- Oil fired central heating with radiators in all rooms
- Off-road parking for two cars
- Sunny garden to the front and side
The Cottage is fully furnished and equipped, including a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The Cottage is a comfortable base from which to explore the area and also enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
This is a standalone property and you have full use of the Cottage and complete privacy
The Cottage is on a quiet country road, but in walking/cycling distance of Doolin and Lisdoonvarna. There is public bus service close by; but most guests come by car.
To help make thing as smooth and easy as possible, here are a few “frequently asked questions” and answers. Of course, if there is something we haven’t covered please do get in touch.
How long should we spend at the Cottage to see the area? The commonest feedback we receive from guests is that they wish they had stayed longer. We’d say three days is a good balance between the desire to see all of Ireland and the desire to see all that the area has to offer. Our minimum stay is two nights; of course you can stay longer (we have guests who have stated for a month and still felt they needed a bit longer to see everything!).
Can we get to the Cottage by public transport (or walking)? You can… but it would be quite a challenge. The nearest bus stop is at the bottom of the hill and it is a fair walk to the Cottage. You’d then find it a bit tiresome (and tiring) trying to get around without a car. Cycling is a good option. We have had guests who have stayed at the Cottage on their cycle tour around Ireland. There is a secure shed for bikes to be stored in overnight.
When do I get travel directions? Around a week before your stay we will send you an email with all the details you need to know; directions, things to do and see etc. along with links to useful local information. If you need this earlier (maybe because you are on a grand tour) then please just let us know.
What are the arrangements for check-in? We aim to meet all our guests when they arrive, so that we can show them around makes sure they understand how everything works and know about the local area and places to eat etc. Because people's travel plans can change, we ask you to give us an indication of your arrival time and then give us a phone call on the day when you are 30 mins away. We live around 10 minutes from the Cottage, so that allows us time to get ourselves organised to meet you. If you are arriving really late then that’s fine too, we will leave the Cottage open for you and we will come by the next day to say “hello” and make sure you are settled. There will be a small Welcome Pack waiting for you, with tea, coffee, cereal bar etc; enough to keep you going before you get to the shops.
What happens on our day of departure? The night before you leave we ask you to let us know a convenient time for your check-out. That’s when we will come up to the Cottage, the say “goodbye” and check everything was ok.
After you leave we send all our guests a short survey questionnaire, to get their feedback and let us know what we could have done to make their stay even better. Of course, we also encourage you to use the review feature on your booknig channel.
