Xaghra is Gozo's top real estate address on the Island. Home to the island's big neolithic draw 'Ggantija Temple', said to have been built by a race of Giants and the cave where the nymph Calyspso detained Homer's hero, Ulysses , for a full seven years with her mythical charms, Xaghra does not disappoint. Its main square boasts a number of busy bars, cafes and restaurants, two of which Latini and Olenadar are my favourites on Gozo. the latter being one of Gozo's oldest eateries. I also love the fresh homemade lemon sorbet, pastries and cold frappuchino at Cafe Reale where the proprietor is a Gozitan wife and Sicilian husband team, marrying the best of two culture's penchant for all things sweet and sticky. The town also features a
a stone oven bakery, Ninu' Cave and Xerri's grotto with their stagaltite and stagalmite underground caves. There is a direct bus from the ferry to this apartment.

(Latini and Oleander in Xaghra), Gharb Football Rangers Club and Mille Grazie –Jeffrey’s on map- in Gharb) (Ta’Tona or Tmun in Mgarr for fish, there is also the floating barge in Mgarr and Gleneagles bar), (The lively Zeppi’s bar opposite Ta’ vestru on the corner in Qala), (Café Jubilee and Maldonado – try the twice-baked Gozitan Cheese Souffle in Victoria, Black Cat Café for the cakes and Mojo’s –opposite Mc Donalds for the delicious salads), (ta’ Carolina and the rooftop Cima in Xlendi and for Gozitan food; Il-Kcina Ghawdxija), (Azure in Dwejra), (Ta’ Kantra in ta’ Cenc) (Brookies limits of Ghasri) (Tatita’s in San lawrenz), (Abraham’s Vinoteque and restaurant, limits of Xewkija), (Ta’ Philipp in Ghajnsielem). My favouite is Latini. 'Ottavo Senso' in Victoria also has great Napolitan pizzas!! Bakeries to check out are Mekren for the pies and Nadur for the Gozitan deep pan goat’s cheese ftira. A lesbian couple also make the best coffee and you can’t go wrong with a semolina and ricotta savoury qassata in St George’s Square Victoria (but they disappear by 11am so make sure to get an early start). Whilst you are there pop into the church on the square for giddy Baroque OTT splendour. The majestic altar is a replica of the one in the Vatican’s St Peter’s. Then lose yourself in the medieval winding streets and afterwards visit the citadel

Watch sunset from Dwejra (after a dip in the inland sea or by Fungus Rock) or from Ghasri’s lighthouse.
Walk the salt pans from Xwejni Bay to Ghasri Cove
Visit Ta’ Pinu church
