Nearby Attractions Initially in English, this text was translated via a machine translation service and may contain inaccuracies or errors.
The neighborhood (Reynoldstown) is on the east side of downtown. For a more comprehensive review of Atlanta outings, check this out: ********
If you'd like to walk somewhere attractive and swanky(ish) nearby for drinks and food, a great choice is Muchacho (0.6 miles) during the day until 4pm or The Golden Eagle (0.6 miles) after 5pm. For a communal style dining experience, go to Gunshow which is in nearby Glenwood (1.3 miles from the house). Gunshow has received lots of critical acclaim.
Ponce City Market (PCM is 2.6miles from house) offers eclectic variety on drinking and eating experiences, and a wide choice of many shopping options and scenes. PCM is an old Sears factory from the 1950's converted into a big multi-venue space. The rooftop there has an amazing carnival and a panoramic view of the city for an epic selfie spot.
In the same style as PCM but closer to the house is a multi-venue factory that's been restored in the neighborhood called Krog Street Market (1 mile from the house). The myriad food offerings span freshly made chocolates, ice creams, candies, Pho, Bahn MI, Sushi, Southern BBQ, Antico authentic Italian (really authentic in an amazing clay oven) pizza, many craft beers, and great Mexican (Superica); that's just some of what Krog Street Market has to offer. If you take a ride or walk there, the street art leading into Krog tunnel along Wiley (0.8 miles from house) is world class. You'll usually see tons of people stopping along the walk to take drone selfies or even with professional camera crews. Stay to your right because technically this is also a bike path.
An alternative if you're walking toward the Krog Tunnel going west on Wiley street, instead of turning right to go into the graffiti-filled tunnel (another cool selfie spot), you can stay on Wiley and follow the street art and walk about 0.4 miles to Carrol Street Cafe for affordable Tapas, wine and cocktails. Carrol Street is run by lovely women and it has the vibe of the neighborhood (Cabbagetown) which feels like a mashup of Duvall street in New Orleans and Bourbon Street in Key West. It's very hipster. You'll often find a bluegrass band playing in the narrow streetside on dingy, broken down rocking chairs. Carrol Street Cafe has amazing cakes by the way. Their drink specials are good. Don't forget to pop into their corner store, Little's. The staff there is amazing in the odd way that Cabbagetown is amazing. You'll love their beards. Little's has an eclectic selection of takeout or eat in (limited seating) beers, sodas, some desserts, and they have a great grill serving the Impossible Burger (vegan), vegan hotdogs to order, or classic meaty burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, onion rings, fries, and more. Many people take it to go.
If you continue down past Carrol Street Cafe and Little's, you'll run into a great Mexican dinner joint called Agave. If you pop in there and it's not your thing, keep walking up to the big traffic light intersection (Memorial and Boulevard). Then you have the option to go right and go into the Oakland Cemetary which is historic and interesting and on the edge of Grant Park (more on Grant Park later). Or go left which will take you back towarde Reynoldstown. Within 9 minutes walking (0.4 miles) you'll see the retro neon signs across the street for Grindhouse Killer Burgers. It's a fun retro space with a full bar, and in addition to many custom burgers, they also have the Impossible (vegan) burger.
Some other notable things are breakfast in Reynoldstown. For a really down home but hipster experience with big portions and small prices go to the voted best breakfast in Atlanta at Home Grown Ga (0.5 miles, 10 minute walk from the house). A quirky but tasty little French breakfast place is Petit Chou (1.0 mile, 22 minute walk).
That's Reynoldstown! Here are our closest neighbors....
If you'd like to go to East Atlanta Village (EAV), I recommend you drive/ride because it's a short distance but on the other side of the freeway (0.9 miles from the house). It's very eclectic. Try the communal and mixmashed eating experience where chefs host tiny popups on tiny grills (Sushi Burrito is a thing there) called We Suki Suki. Check their hours because they are so "extra" as Atlantans say. It's very typical of EAV. Lots of other food/drink options there. There's also the famous Mary's (gay bar).
Or there's Little 5 Points (L5P) which is 1.3 miles from the house. There are some consignment places that are featured a lot in movies and TV shows, a record store, some coffee shops, the alliance community theater, Arden's garden, hookah, other shopping, and weird vape shops. Hattie B's Hot Chicken is the best bird you'll ever eat. There are good pizza places. It's odd and interesting there. I sometimes see rappers wandering around there like T.I.
Moving on up will take you to Old Fourth Ward (O4W). There is a world renowned dining experience there called Staplehouse (1.5 miles from the house). Wear a blazer If you're a guy. There's a lot in O4W. Check out this blog post ******** .
Near O4W is the lovely and upscale Inman Park. Inman Park is filled with both Victorian-style homes and former industrial spaces that have been turned into bars and restaurants. Go to the delightfully European breakfast Cafe, Bread and Butterfly (1.8 miles from the house). It's my fav for breakfast. Last time I was there I saw Charlie Heaton from "Stranger Things" eating with Natalia Dyer. The portions aren't big but It's delicious. You'll see a ton to eat around Inman Park. For bigger portions and a great atmosphere, go to Parrish Market (upstairs in the front, if they aren't booked up, or downstairs in the back if you can't get in upstairs) and have a really delicious hearty Southern breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner in a great space with great service for the $12-$25 a plate range. So good! It's directly on the beltline and you can walk the beautiful green space to get to Piedmont Park from Inman Park or to PCM, or anywhere. The beltline is fun on a sunny day (stay to your right).
I left out Grant Park which has the Beacon (3.4 miles from house) and Grant Park Market and the actual park (1.8 miles from house) at Grant Park and Zoo Atlanta (1.9 miles). Grant Park is quite polished and affluent as is Inman Park.
I also left out Midtown where we used to live. Midtown is quite established. It's where the symphony (7.1 miles from house), High Museum of Art (6.8 miles from house), and the famous and beautiful Fox Theater (5.2 miles from house). Don't forget Piedmont Park (free, 7 miles from house) with Piedmont Park Arboretum/Conservatory (paid); both massive, green spaces with water and gardens and designed by Frederick Law Olmstead who also designed Central Park in New York.
Futher up from Midtown is uptown and then Buckhead (12 miles from the house). If you're looking for worldclass upscale dining and retail, go there. Lots of Atlanta's hip-hop stars are seen there. Buckhead is well positioned for the shopper on a spree. The north Atlanta neighborhood is home to two of the area's best shopping malls - Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza. Phipps Plaza is currently Atlanta's most high end mall, with boutique locations of luxury shops like Valentino, Bottega Veneta, Jimmy Choo and Saks Fifth Avenue. Lenox Mall has a mix of high end shops and mall favorites, including anchor stores Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus.
