The facility is used part of the year as a colony for artists, painters, writers and composers coming from all over the world. Part of the facilities is a renowned French restaurant. Breakfast is included and served from a European buffet, daily.

Colgate university, Hamilton college and the village of Cooperstown are nearby. In summer the Glimmerglass opera performs in Cooperstown.
