Hello Everybody,
I am an easy going 30 something year old guy based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Some of the things I enjoy when I am traveling are getting the opportunities to meet new people, form meaningful connections, and experience the local food, culture, landmarks, language, and historical sites.
As much as it's my obligation to visit the touristy areas, I'd rather enjoy experiencing a place as if I am a local and do what the locals typically do. That can be things like strolling through a local park, meeting up with friends in the area (if I have some), tuning into the local TV/radio, or buying food from the local supermarket and eating at home. Getting to experience life as a local is something I value very much and my hope is to grow from it.
When I am in touristy mode, I really enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities.
As for indoor activities, museums are on the top of my list. It's a must for me to learn about the culture and history of a place so I can greatly appreciate where I'm visiting. Eateries, shopping malls, exhibits, and nightclubs are also a plus.
As for outdoor activities, I enjoy looking at city architecture when I'm in very urban places, understanding how their transportation methods work, and finding some quirks here and there. When I'm in nature, I love to take in the beautiful scenery and take time to reflect.
Also if you speak German, French, Turkish, Japanese, or Mandarin, let's chat! I'd be happy to converse and learn from you. :)
