Squillace is a town and comune in the province of Catanzaro, in the Calabria region of southern Italy. It is located on the Ionian Sea, about 50 kilometers southeast of Catanzaro. The town is known for its beautiful beaches, which are popular destinations for tourists and locals alike.
The main beach in Squillace is called Lido di Squillace, and it stretches for about 2.5 kilometers along the coastline. It is a wide, sandy beach with crystal clear waters and a gentle slope, making it ideal for swimming and other water activities. It also tends to attract a gay crowd, and is nudist-friendly should you wish to drop your towel - and Speedos! The beach is surrounded by a pine forest, providing plenty of shade on hot summer days. The pine forest also tends to be a popular place for gay cruising if you are in the mood to meet other LGBTQ+ folk and have some fun. As as a result, the general area around Squillace Beach is considered gay-friendly.
In addition to swimming and sunbathing, visitors to Squillace can also enjoy a variety of other activities, such as fishing, boating, and hiking. The town is also home to several historical and cultural landmarks, including the Castle of Squillace and the Cathedral of Santa Maria della Consolazione.
There are several ways to access Squillace and its beaches. The town is located along the SS106, a major coastal road that runs along the Ionian Sea in Calabria. It is easily accessible by car from major cities in the region, such as Catanzaro, Lamezia Terme, and Crotone. There are also regular bus and train services that run between Squillace and these cities, as well as other towns in the area.
