Colonial Bath (Bain Colonial in French) claims to be Montreal's premiere spa of saunas exclusively for men. Opened in 1914 as Russo-Turkish Canadian baths, it underwent much restructuring over the years and became a strictly men's institution in 1994.
Situated in the heart of the Plateau, north of the gay village, it offers Montreal's only real natural stone steam system, a high-pressure wet system, and two outdoor terraces.
Colonial Bath has lockers, single rooms, a whirlpool, two wet steams, a dry sauna, a dark room, a video room, and Wi-Fi. There's free parking close by (3974 rue de Bullion).
Open Monday to Saturday 12 - 10 PM and Sunday 12 - 8 PM. Lockers $21 (CAD), with towel. Rooms $24 (CAD), with sheets and towels; Professional massage $25 (CAD)/30 min.
