Torremolinos Gay Pride

When it comes to gay hotspots in Europe, Torremolinos may come as a bit of a surprise. Despite being small in size, this seaside town to the south of Spain continues to attract LGBTQ travelers year round, and during Gay Pride Torremolinos the rainbow flag shines brighter than ever. 

Torremolinos Pride first stated in 2015, and it has since evolved into a hugely popular annual event. Despite Spain legalizing gay marriage as far back as 2005, it took Torremolinos Gay Pride some time to get off the ground. Right up until 2015, the local government imposed several measures to ban the collective celebration of pride and any form of float in the city. The most extreme case was in 2014, when a ban on a local a gala 'drag' in the main square was imposed, along with a slew of homophobic remarks and attitudes. 

Despite this slow start and negative overarching political framework, Torremolinos Gay Pride has since evolved into LGBTQ splendor since 2015. Each year, pride enthusiasts flock to this seaside town for a series of beach parties, pool parties, one incredible pride parade, and a generally electric energy filling the town's streets. The main gay area of Torremolinos is La La Nogalera, and during Pride this comes alive with plenty of pride enthusaists enjoying al fresco drinking with new friends. 

During Torremolinos Gay Pride, the local city council and plenty of gay-owned and operated business collaborate to create a rich and memorable event. This helps to create better synergy between Torremolinos and its local LGBTQ community, and brings to light any issues pertinent to the community. What once comprised just two floats, Torremolinos Gay Pride now attracts an estimated 40,000 people each year. 

In between dancing at Pride and sharing cocktails with fellow pride enthusiats, be sure to hit some of Torremolinos' famed beaches that has made it such a hit with the local LGBTQ community.
