While the island did sustain severe damage from hurricane Ian in 2022, the island has recovered significantly since this time and in many ways offers a less crowded and more personal experience than before. With restaurants and shopping reopening constantly, there are more experiences on island for guests to enjoy every week! There are also multiple state parks nearby that are waiting for your adventures. Jump on the trolley to take you south to the secluded Lover's Key State Park or go north to Bowditch Point Park. The Fish Tale Marina offers boat rentals and dockage for those wanting to get out on the water. Travel around the island in style in a rented Moke or golf cart. Trolley service is also available from Estero Boulevard to the Times Square area, the central hub of Fort Myers Beach. Several restaurants, shops, and bars have come back since the hurricane. For day trippers, check out the Key West Express, a one of a kind experience that jettisons guests back and forth from FMB to Key West, FL in just four hours (and has a bar!) The beautiful beaches of Sanibel, Lighthouse, and Ding Darling wildlife preserve are also less than a 20 minute car ride from the north end of Fort Myers Beach.
